Are you being influenced or manipulated?
Their objective is the same but one is uplifting and the other is evil. One says “For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there can be no mercy. There is but one rule: hunt or be hunted.” The other: “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory... You take the front line when there is danger” One makes you feel pressured, trapped and anxious. The other makes you feel inspired, motivated and empowered. One is associated with deceit, blaming, victimizing, seducing, and using authority. The other is associated with reciprocity, assertiveness, emotional intelligence and caring. Everyone wants to be recognized as an influencer but no one as a manipulator.
Isn’t it interesting how we resist one and actively seek out the other when the purpose of both is to change/impact someone’s thoughts, emotions or actions. There is a fine line between influencing the bad and the better way, foremost determined by the intentions and tactics deployed. Both can be mastered - it is your choice who you become: one or the other. Do you only care about reaching your goal or also about how you make others feel? Are you obsessed with the Underwoods or admire Nelson Mandela? Both? #pbordan #WinningMindset #Influence #Leadership
