Attitude (and stories) make a difference

Updated: Apr 1, 2018

A man came upon a construction site where three people were working. He asked each one of them what they were doing. The first man answered gruffly, 'I'm laying bricks’. The second man replied, 'I'm putting up a wall’. The third man looked up at the sky and said enthusiastically, 'I'm building a cathedral.'

This old tale captures a great deal of wisdom.

The Bricks Layers have to fight quick burn out (can be both cause and effect), health risks, stress and often low paycheck for their work.

What to do? Dare to seek out other people’s help, change job, city or part of your mindset that is holding you back from a better life.

The Wall Builders feel good about themselves as they create some value. They usually don't leave their comfort-zone and settle for average.

What to do? Dare to build on your strengths and passion; don’t stop till you find the greater purpose and recruit an A-team for this journey.

The Cathedral Creators are being admired, feel recognized and rewarded most of the time, live a fulfilling life and make lasting impact on humanity

What to do? Dare to coach the rest of us, lead by example, never stop learning and strengthen your willpower to finish your masterpiece.

Remember: Everyone has a mission but only a few dare to design and build the cathedral.

Stories are powerful reminders to think about our lives in a new way. What is your favorite one? What did you learn from it? #WinningMindset #pbordan #stories
